Amrita Singh

Hello Suzanne and all my friends! I come from India's first planned and smoke-free city, Chandigarh. It is a lush green city with a man made lake and therefore, truly lives up to its tag: The City Beautiful!
I belong to a family of four: my parents and a younger sister.
I always found a strong connect with the language of English; my maternal grandfather was a professor of English and my mother an English teacher for 30 years. I studied a combination of English literature and Education in graduation and did my first masters in English with Linguistics.
Taken after my mother and completely passion driven, I got into the profession of teaching English right after I completed my masters.
Studying the Queen's language, in the Queen's country: England, was always my dream. After teaching for a few years in College, I thought of taking a step further by developing and honing my skills in language teaching. Therefore, I enrolled myself in the master's degree of English Language Teaching at One of England's most prestigious institutions, The University of Warwick, a dream come true for me!

Antonis

Hello everyone,

My name's Antonis Antonopoulos and I come from Greece. My family lives in Greece but I've been living in Coventry since 2011. Coventry, is quite nice. I really like the slow pace of life in this city but I do miss  larger and busier city some times. I am an only child,  The reason I applied for this master's course is because Warwick university is considered to be one of the best universities in the UK. What is more, I love technology and I believe that education can be benefited from the correct use of technology.

Hello everyone. My name is Manuel Herrera and I am from Chile. I am a teacher of English as a foreign language from Universidad de Playa Ancha. I love technology. I have always been trying new apps and reading about new online tools. I've been working as a teacher since 2007 and last year I decided to do the MA in ICT/MM at the university of Warwick. After a long process of looking for funding, I got a partial scholarship from Santander group, which allows me to continue my professional development.  Finally if you would like to know more about my interests, you can follow me on twitter.com/ManuelHerreraM

    Tasos Vacalopoulos

Hi Suzanne and hello everybody. This is a picture of me taken on a barge, cruising the Coventry Canal on father's day. I am a Freelance ELT professional from Athens Greece. In 2008, I started teaching as a part time substitute but I soon found myself overwhelmed by the sheer joy of teaching. In 2013 and after having taught in many educational settings, I decided to further my career by following the full-time summer CELTA at Coventry University. Upon successful completion, I travelled back to Athens Greece, which is my second country of origin and for a year, I assisted various private institutions in preparing learners sit their Cambridge IELTS, FCE and CPE exams. I've also worked as an on-line invigilator for City & Guilds and ECDL and as a professional interpreter in the UK. I am currently working as a multilingual teaching assistant in various schools in the wider Coventry and Warwickshire area and in the afternoons I volunteer my services in Adult Education.
I already hold a BSc Degree in International Relations with a specialism in Human Rights Law & Humanitarian Law and an MSc in International Law and Diplomacy. However, in 2014, I decided to set myself on a path of Continuous Professional Development and so I am currently doing an MA in English Language Teaching with a specialism in ICT & Multimedia at The University of Warwick.
Last but not least, I consider myself as a highly motivated professional with an inherent genuine love for English Grammar and a great desire to further my academic and professional career so I can't really wait to learn a great deal from you.

Hello and Welcome!

Welcome to our Professional Practice Peer Blog (PPPB)

Let's begin by introducing ourselves......

Prompts:  Where are you from?  Where do you live?  Briefly describe your family.  Why are you on this course?

Suzanne Wood

Hi!  I'm delighted to be your teacher and I'm really looking forward to getting to know you all.
I have been teaching English to foreign students for over 12 years.  I'm married and have two children.  My son is 18 years old and in his final year at school and my daughter is 19 and studying at University in Holland.

We live in a beautiful village, surrounded by countryside.  The village is quite small, with no shops, but we do have a primary school, a sports club and a pub.
